Slavin - Land Systems Division (LASD) - Overview |
Slavin, Land Systems Division (LASD) specializes in the development, production and integration of combat proven systems for Main Battle Tanks (MBT) such as the MERKAVA, and Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV). With a highly skilled workforce of some 450 specialists, nearly half of which engineers and technicians, Slavin LASD combines the technological know-how, with unmatched military operational experience, offering unique expertise in the development, modeling, testing and life-cycle support of AFV product lines. Feilds of Activity include:
AFV Production & Modernization: Slavin LASD provides system conversion, upgrading and modernization of AFVs, currently in service, enabling customers to maximize the use of their existing inventories, extending the lifespan of surplus systems, by improving firepower, survivability and maneuverability. Such programs include the replacement and upgrading of weapons, introducing new fire-control systems, armor enhancements, utilizing appliqué armor kits, and installing remotely controlled weapon stations, Active Potection Systems, training simulators and more. IMI has successfully upgraded a variety of tanks, wheeled and tracked AFVs of western and eastern origin, including M60, T-55, T-72, M113, BMP-1, BMP-2, to mention just a few.
The Division comprises a sophisticated design and modeling facility, a modern production floor suitable for large scale production, set for assembly, welding, machining and warehousing facilities. Production infrastructure includes in-house technologies like large size Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling, CNC turning, cylindrical drilling and honing, welding of armor plates, aluminum, steel and more.
Armored Vehicle Protection Suits: Slavin LASD provides, develops, manufactures and installs passive and reactive ballistic armor kits for MBTs, AFVs, heavy earth moving equipment, light tactical and soft vehicles.
Active Protection Systems (APS): IMI Slavin LASD's family of APS includes the IRON FIST APS, BRIGHT ARROW APS integrated with remotely controlled weapon station and SHOCK ABSORBER dismounted 'Soft-kill' APS. These systems are designed to increase the level of protection of MBTs, light and medium armored vehicles, as well as dismounted infantry, by improving situational awareness, employing 'Soft and 'Hard-Kill' defense layers and rapid counter attack capabilities.
Remote Controlled Weapon Stations: Slavin LASD offers the WAVE - family of Advanced Stabilized Remote Controlled Weapon Stations (ASRCWS), providing effective observation, target tracking capability, and employment of highly accurate firepower from within the platform, ensuring crew survivability.
Tank Guns: IMI is Israel's center for the development and production of tank guns. IMI's tank guns include various 105mm and 120mm varients.
Inbore Subcaliber Training Devices: IMI offers a family of Subcaliber Training Systems, providing advanced and cost-effective products for tank crew training in main gun firing. The use of low-cost subcaliber ammunition reduces dramatically the training expenses. IMI subcaliber systems exercise the tank crew in the firing process while operating the MBT similarly to full caliber firing in real-life conditions and in all modes of operation. IMI subcaliber systems are type qualified.
Bridging: IMI is recognized worldwide as a bridging "Center of Excellence". The Company maintains and operates in-house facilities capable of designing, developing, manufacturing, testing and supporting military bridges of different types.
The Division has developed and produced assault bridging systems, such as the MLC70 Tandem Assault Crossing System (TACS), mounted on the M60 AVLB platforms for the IDF; the MLC70 Towed assault Bridge (TAB) provided both to the IDF and the US Marine Corps and the MLC30 Medium Assault Bridge (MAB) system, mounted on an AMX13 light tank chassis.
