| Rocket Systems Division - Overview |
The Rocket Systems Division (RSD) of Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI) is IMI's know-how and Production center for Rocket propulsion, Artillery Rocket Systems, Pyrotechnic Systems and Countermeasures for the protection of A/C. Other fields of activity include processing of special metals and composites for advanced composite lightweight armor materials, to be applied for military and civil applications.
RSD designs, develops, manufactures and supports specific weapon systems and product lines.
Propulsion: RSD maintains Israel's largest rocket propulsion technology-center, where in-house rocket science engineers are developing and producing solid propulsion systems for various types of applications – ranging, from powerful boosters, lifting satellites into space, hypersonic rocket motors accelerating the ARROW Missile Interceptor, lightweight motors for shoulder-launched anti-tank weapons and surface-to-air and naval missiles.
Countermeasures: RSD is the exclusive supplier of expendable advanced countermeasure products for the Israeli Air Force. The division's products include different types of flares and chaff cartridges, conforming to market requirements, as well as countermeasure-dispensing and self protection systems for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The division's Advanced Flares are being deployed by air forces around the world. Rocket Ordnance: RSD offers a wide range of state-of-the-art accurate artillery rocket weapon systems, designed to defeat targets at various ranges. RSD's artillery rockets have been deployed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and have also been sold to other military customers worldwide. In addition, RSD has developed several generations of shoulder-launched multi-purpose infantry weapons.
Ballistic Armor: The division designs and manufactures lightweight concealed vests, tactical assault vests, standard armor panels and tailor-made, anti-terror protection suits, using various materials, including ceramics, polyethylene and aramid. The division offers customized solutions for ballistic protection of vehicles, maritime vessels and helicopters.
